संस्कृतम् – 2016-11-23

कदा सूनुः पितरं जात इछाच्चक्रन
kadā sūnuḥ pitaraṃ jāta ichāccakrana
नाश्रु वर्तयद्विजानन
nāśru vartayadvijānana
“When will the son be born and seek his father? Mourner-like, will he weep when first he knows him?”

 

को दम्पती समनसा वि यूयोदध
ko dampatī samanasā vi yūyodadha
यदग्निःश्वशुरेषु दीदयत
yadagniḥśvaśureṣu dīdayata
“Who shall divide the accordant wife and husband, while fire is shining with thy consort’s parents?”

संस्कृतम् – 2016-10-14

नीचा वर्तन्त उपरि स्फुरन्त्यहस्तासो
nīcā vartanta upari sphurantyahastāso
हस्तवन्तं सहन्ते
hastavantaṃ sahante
“Downward they roll, and then spring quickly upward, and, handless, force the man with hands to serve them.”

दिव्या अङ्गारा इरिणे न्युप्ताः शीताः
divyā aṅgārā iriṇe nyuptāḥ śītāḥ
सन्तो हृदयं निर्दहन्ति
santo hṛdayaṃ nirdahanti
“Cast on the board, like lumps of magic charcoal, though cold themselves they burn the heart to ashes.”

गुहा शिरो निहितं रधगक्षी
guhā śiro nihitaṃ radhagakṣī
असिन्वन्नत्ति जिह्वयावनानि
asinvannatti jihvayāvanāni
His eyes are turned away, his head is hidden: unsated with his tongue he eats the fuel.”

अत्राण्यस्मै पड्भिः सं
atrāṇyasmai paḍbhiḥ saṃ
भरन्त्युत्तानहस्तानमसाधि विक्षु
bharantyuttānahastānamasādhi vikṣu
” With hands upraised, with reverence in the houses, for him they quickly bring his food together.”
